“After all, if speaking out on a proposed Bill in Congress is a form of interference in State matters, then it does not matter whether a church speaks out FOR or AGAINST the Bill; what matters is that the said church spoke ABOUT the Bill. If the Catholic Church is to be condemned for violating the separation of Church and State, then the INC should be charged guilty of the same violation.”

Speaking out FOR or AGAINST a bill in Congress is not the point. The point is every time one religion speaks for or against a bill in Congress, that religion consciously or unconsciously carries with it doctrinal and theological tenets, which cannot be used for purposes of lawmaking. If one religion insist their doctrines and theology, then you have to accommodate all the other religions doctrines and theology including atheists, to be fair. But the state does not legislate laws on the basis of one religion’s doctrines or theology, even if that religion has the majority of adherents. The state must treat all religions, big or small ones, as equals.

The writer of this article had a fairly good grasp of the Establishment clause or the concept known as separation of state and church, but he missed the last point.

1st comment.. yeah.. well said.. tama nga nmn.. we pinoys should live as Christ our model.. and by example.. the catholic church has the ryt to scrutinized the government and have the ryt to tell the people who to vote because the church is our guide for better life.. its on us now how we decide and weigh every angle the church said related to politics as Christ our model.. its time for us catholics to be united for our country.. buti pa iba relihiyon masabi nila na isang boto sila tayo mga catholics kaya dn ntn yn..

I am surprised that the Catholic candidates of Ang Kapatiran – Delos Reyes, David, and Llasos were not included in the endorsement made by the White Vote movement. Is it because they are not “winnables”? I sure hope that this movement would support these men who have worked tirelessly for the promotion of the values of family and life – and yet it seems that we have forgotten them just because they are not popular. A true Catholic vote MUST include these candidates as well, otherwise, we are being traitors to the cause of LIFE and FAMILY. Elections should not be based on popularity, but principles. Vote AKP candidates!

“more population more collection” –> Goodness! You’re the only one saying that. I have NEVER heard this from any pro-life/anti-RH people. Certainly not from any good clergy. What a malicious allegation! But already to be expected from the pro-RH who are now routinely bashing the holy Church. Very sad.

The SWS Result served its masters…..the Politicians. This is a sad road map for a survey-institution hoping for national credit. It is not yet too late to have reforms. Whether increasing or decreasing, SWS failed to see that the efficacy of the Risen Christ cannot be quantified.
